Huawei Honor 6 With 4G LTE Android 4.4 Octa Core KitKat Launched

Huawei has unveiled its Honor 6 smartphone, making it the company's second handset with 4G LTE connectivity launched this month, after the Honor 3C. The company has announced that the new Huawei Honor 6 smartphone will be released on July 1 in China. For now, no details about global availability have been released.

Huawei unveiled the Honor 6 (aka Glory 6) and aimed it squarely at the Samsung Galaxy S5 and the Apple iPhone 5s. The phone matches the stunning thinness of the Ascend P6 and measures 139.8 x 68.8 x 6.5mm, weighing 135g. The connectivity options available on the Huawei Honor 6 are GPS/A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 4G LTE. It is worth noting that the handset is made of aluminium alloy structure that Huawei says keeps the temperature cooler (than conventional smartphones) by 4-6 degrees Celsius.

The Huawei Honor 6 is built around a 5" 1080p screen from JDI, which covers 75.7% of the front and is surrounded by sub-3mm bezels.

The phone is powered by the company's home-brewed Kirin 920 chipset, which is comparable with Samsung's Exynos octa-core chipsets with four Cortex-A15 cores and four Cortex-A7 cores, plus Mali-T624. Unlike the Exynos, the Kirin 920 supports LTE Cat. 6 for up to 300Mbps downlink speeds (as fast as dual-channel Wi-Fi 802.11n).

The new chipset runs Android 4.4.2 KitKat with Emotion UI 2.3 and scores more points on AnTuTu than the Snapdragon 805. The phone will come with 3GB RAM and 16GB or 32GB storage, expandable via a microSD card.

The Huawei bragged about its power-saving features than the flagship competition, lasting more hours per mAh battery capacity than the Galaxy S5 and double what the iPhone 5s gets. The company also made a point that the new chipset runs much cooler than the predecessor, helped by an aluminum alloy structure (Huawei K3V2-based phones were known for getting quite hot).

The Huawei Honor 6 packs a 13MP camera with a Sony IMX214 sensor and f/2.0 aperture. The front-facing camera is a 5MP shooter with 1.4µm pixels, 88° FoV and f/2.4 aperture. The back camera has a dual-LED flash.

As mentioned above, the Honor 6 comes with 16GB and 32GB inbuilt storage variants, with the option of expansion via microSD card (up to 64GB). The Honor 6 sports an 13-megapixel rear autofocus camera, while there is a secondary 5-megapixel front-facing camera also onboard. The smartphone packs a 3000mAh battery.
